We had such an amazing time last night at Equipped by Faith with our beautiful friend and girl boss, Mahisha Dellinger!
Mahisha is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of CURLS, an incredible curly hair international beauty brand being sold in stores like Target, CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, Rite-Aid, and Sally’s Beauty Supply. Mahisha singlehandedly built the demand for her organic hair care products to grow into the brand it is today.
She is a natural hair-care pioneer, a sought-after industry expert, and has served as a business panel specialist and keynote speaker for organizations across the nation including Black Enterprise Vision 20/20 Entrepreneur Conference, Black Enterprise, Women of Power Summit, Bishop TD Jake’s Woman Thou Art Loosed Conference, Tory Burch Foundation, AT&T Dream in Black, and Prudential SisterCircle, to name a few! Mahisha has also been featured on several television shows throughout the nation and is the star of “Mind Your Business with Mahisha” on OWN, Oprah Winfrey’s television network, as the expert helping other women based businesses reach the million-dollar mark.
But what we love about Mahisha is her passionate faith and heart for God and people. Read more about it in the interview below!
Q&A with Mahisha Dellinger
1. What do you think you were put on this earth for? What is your biggest dream?
Without a doubt, to be a business blessing for women looking to change their destiny. My biggest dream? I am living it! I am married, with children, and a successful Christian entrepreneur. I do not think I could ask for anything more.
2. What are some of the obstacles you have had to go through to get to this point?
Poverty and growing up in a single-parent home that lacked structure, a model of success, and stability. I’m also a domestic violence and sexual abuse survivor.
3. What motivates or inspires you?
My children motivate me to keep moving even when I want to give up.
4. What do you want to be remembered for?
As a woman that had a mission…and accomplished it.
5. What advice would you give other women searching for their purpose, passion, & faith?
Pray, seek God first and…WORK TOWARD IT. Faith without works is dead.
6. What has been your greatest achievement in life?
My family. I wouldn’t have said that a decade ago. I took for granted how easy I had it, getting pregnant and having as many healthy babies as we wanted to have. So many people struggle with fertility these days.
7. How does what you do reflect what God placed on your heart to share with the world?
My non-profit work is 100% a reflection of my heart to help the world and show God’s divine love.
8. What books are you reading?
Losing My Virginity: How I've Survived, Had Fun, and Made a Fortune Doing Business My Way by Richard Branson
9. How do you stay encouraged & faith-filled?
I have to go to His sanctuary…worship…fellowship…but also pray and sometimes weep, if needed. Being in His presence.
10. Favorite scripture of the moment (or ever)?
It will always be John 3:16, for it is my salvation…He paid the price for me! “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Thank you, Mahisha! You are such an inspiration for what it means to be a strong, beautiful woman of faith!
Remember to mark your calendars for next month’s first Wednesday gathering with Kat Armstrong on October 2nd!
