Why Keep Praying?
prayer noun 1 intercession, devotion; archaic orison: She believed in the power of prayer.
Prayer is powerful and one of the greatest tools we have as believers. Yet, it can be one of our last resorts when we encounter issues and problems in our lives. Going to God in prayer should be our FIRST response to any issue, problem or situation we encounter in our lives!
"Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere." Ephesians 6:18
I believe so strongly in the power of prayer that I set an alarm on my phone that goes off at noon each day, reminding me to stop what I’m doing and pray about whatever I’m talking about at that moment. This simple reminder has opened up so many doors for me to be able to pray with other people. That alarm always puts my mind at rest and reminds me to shift my focus back to God.
"I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth." 1 Timothy 2:1-4
But it’s easy to get discouraged when we feel like the prayers we’re praying aren’t being heard or answered. I know I’ve been disappointed at times when I was praying for a certain outcome and didn’t get the answer I wanted. But I’ve also learned that "unanswered prayers" can sometimes be the biggest blessings in our lives. We know that God wants and desires good things for our lives and sometimes, we just have to trust that He knows better than we do.
"My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts, and my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9
Your life is in His hands. He loves you more than you will ever know. He wants to hear from you and desires to have a loving relationship with you. Bring your needs, desires and cares to Him today because He cares about you! Whether you get the answer you wanted or not, know that God is good, that He loves you, and that you ARE being heard.

"Do not worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7
